Many African countries have been through several rounds of public financial management reforms, including reforms to implement medium-term budgeting, programme-based budgeting and integrated financial management information systems. CABRI continues to deepen its understanding of why specific contexts matter, how one size does not fit all, and how reforms should aim to increase the functionality of public financial management systems. CABRI facilitates processes for senior budget officials to identify critical problems, deconstruct them and develop feasible solutions. These measures equip officials to engage critically with their reform programmes, and place them at the centre of initiating and driving reforms appropriate for their country’s political, economic and institutional context.
