Olaniyi is a Public Financial Management (PFM) Specialist at CABRI, where he plays a key role in shaping global PFM discussions from an African perspective. He provides data-driven policy advice and supports in addressing complex, locally-identified PFM challenges through policy-oriented research. Olaniyi also focuses on building the capacity of PFM practitioners across Africa.

Before joining CABRI in 2024, he led the Budget Credibility Programme at the International Budget Partnership and served as a Senior Programme Officer and Senior Research Associate at BudgIT Foundation, managing governance programs and collaborating with international development partners.

Olaniyi has co-authored technical papers on budgeting, budget credibility, and sub-national transparency. He has led campaigns to improve fiscal transparency and accountability, translating research insights into impactful governance initiatives and advocacy efforts. His work has enhanced PFM practices, improved immunization and social sectors financing.

Olaniyi holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria.
