Professor Kara Hanson, Professor of Health System Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Policy, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, joined us for our Policy Dialogue on Public Financial Management (PFM) as a greater enabler of health facility autonomy in Mauritius in August 2024.
Professor Hanson was on our panel discussion on "Why do we need more facility autonomy and how can this be achieved?". During the session, she presented the findings of the Lancet Commission on Financing Primary Healthcare. The panel discussion focused on how investing in PHC is key to progressing towards universal health coverage and how direct financing and increasing facility autonomy are often important contributors to improving PHC outcomes.
