We spoke to Hyeladzira Garnvwa, Senior Advisor, ThinkWell (Abuja, Nigeria). A health specialist with experience in promoting quality and equitable access to the delivery of Primary Health Care (PHC) through developing strategic documents and using evidence to shape national policy, Ms Garnvwa was among the participants for our Policy Dialogue on Public Financial Management (PFM) as an enabler of greater health facility autonomy in Mauritius in August 2024.
She talks about the challenges that Nigeria aimed to resolve by providing direct financing to PHC facilities and shares her thoughts about the theme of the Policy Dialogue and how gathering such an unusual mix of participants - Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Local Government - to talk about PFM and health facility autonomy, was an insightful experience.
