We spoke to Dr Prithviraj Ramputty, Director of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Wellness, Mauritius, during our Policy Dialogue on Public Financial Management (PFM) as an enabler of greater health facility autonomy which was held from 27-29 August, 2024 about the relevance of the theme to CABRI member country Mauritius and the African continent.

While it may not be a cost-effective approach for a small island like Mauritius where primary health care (PHC) is free, Dr Ramputty is of opinion that many African countries would definitely benefit tremendously by investing in PHC, which is key to progressing towards universal health coverage (UHC).
