
Today, Dr Kay Brown, Executive Secretary of CABRI was invited to speak at the Eleventh Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, specifically for a session dedicated to enhancing public expenditure and financial accountability for sustainable development.
Dr Brown focused her intervention on the importance of cross-sectional work in public financial management (PFM), careful planning and prioritisation to ensure that funding is provided in the national budget for enhanced service delivery, accuracy and comprehension of data and digital public infrastructure (DPI), which was in the spotlight last November for our international conference on public finance in the digital era in partnership with ODI Global. Dr Brown was joined on the panel by Ms. M. Kgothatso Semela, Senior Regional Coordinator, Africa & Middle East, Open Government Partnership and Mr. Ozonnia Ojielo, UN Resident Coordinator, Rwanda.
Jointly organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Government of Uganda, in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, and various United Nations agencies, the theme of the Eleventh Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development scheduled until this Friday is "Driving job creation and economic growth through sustainable, inclusive, science-and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063".
