Dr Kay Brown, Executive Secretary of CABRI is in Uganda for the Public Finance Management (PFM) Conference for Africa organised by the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) in collaboration with the African Union and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). Scheduled from 18-20 February, the theme of the conference is ‘Enhancing Public Finance in Africa: Progress and Prospects.’

On 18 February, Dr Brown joined speakers from the African Union and the African Development Bank Group for the first session of the conference dedicated to the public financial management (PFM) landscape in Africa. 

This session highlighted key trends, challenges, and opportunities in PFM, offering insights into the evolving governance, transparency, and accountability frameworks across the continent. By setting the stage for the sessions that follow, this discussion provided a critical backdrop, contextualising the ongoing reforms and innovations in public finance, and emphasising the role of strong financial management in driving sustainable development across Africa.
