Country-teams participating in the Building Public Finance Capabilities for Nutrition (BPFCN) Programme, namely, Ghana, Liberia and The Gambia met in South Africa in February for the Framing Workshop.
We speak to Augustine Gordon Musah, Scaling Up Nutrition, National Coordinator, Office of the Vice President, Liberia.
Malnutrition is a major public health concern in Liberia affecting many children and contributing to long-term health issues. In response, the Government of Liberia initiated several measures including a national nutrition plan to address malnutrition and providing ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) for children.
In this interview, Mr Musah shares the problem statement identified by his team as part of its participation in the BPFCN programme which is lack of domestic financing for nutrition-specific interventions in Liberia for the fight against malnutrition.
The BPFCN programme is funded by the European Union and BMZ and implemented by GIZ.
