It is widely recognized that gender equality in leadership supports a country’s competitiveness and economic development efforts. Mainstreaming gender equality and women's empowerment in Public Financial Management (PFM) ranks high on the agenda of the African Development Bank (AfDB) proud sponsor of our Building Public Finance Capabilities (BPFC) programme and long-standing partner of CABRI.

Women in PFM are certainly in force in the 2024 edition. Evelynne CHANGE, Chief Governing Officer at the AfDB, made the observation after glancing at the room during the BPFC Framing Workshop which was held in South Africa from 10-13 June.

Ms CHANGE attended the presentations of country-teams Guinea and Kenya in the afternoon of 13 June.

It is an honour to have so many women in this year’s cohort and to see how the BPFC programme empowers women in the public finance realm.
