A proud Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency (GIFT) steward, we are pleased to invite representatives of ministries of Finance, line-ministries, budget offices, civil society, legislatures and finance committees, Supreme Audit Institutions, donors and the general public to enroll for GIFT's free course "Advancing Fiscal Transparency for Development Online Course".
The course, funded by the United States Department of State, is designed to assist countries and individual reformers in advancing and institutionalizing improvements in fiscal transparency. It covers what fiscal transparency means; why it is important; who the key actors are; best practice norms and standards; how it is measured as well as how it can be enhanced. All individuals who finish the course will automatically earn a certificate after passing the post-course assessment.
The course draws on the unique diversity of the GIFT network, utilizing expertise from international organizations, including the International Budget Partnership, where GIFT is housed; International Monetary Fund; World Bank; Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability secretariat; Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development; International Federation of Accountants; Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative; and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative; as well as the knowledge and experience of GIFT steward practitioners that have advanced fiscal transparency policies and practices in their respective countries, thereby providing opportunities for peer learning emanating from the numerous examples of concrete steps that countries have taken to successfully increase fiscal transparency.
