CABRI facilitated a workshop to support Ugandan public debt managers to analyse challenges and develop actions that will guide and strengthen the public debt office.

The workshop focused on how to: (i) create a borrowing strategy framework that balances costs and risks; (ii) develop an enabling environment to execute the borrowing strategy; (iii) ensure awareness of risks through all practices and establish a risk management framework; and (iv) build capabilities within the public debt office.

Representatives from the public debt office, the budget office, the Bank of Uganda, the securities exchange and other role players participated. Public debt managers from Malawi, Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa also attended the workshop.
