The PEFA indicators are up for revision and CABRI collaborated with various experts and institutions in commenting on the proposed indicators. This paper raises the issue of PEFA assessment results often being misused to justify reforms that are not the best fit. To help change this practice, the Secretariat should strengthen the summary assessment and offer a proper analysis of what the PEFA scores mean in each context, and which scores matter for reform.
